QUEZON CITY, April 21 (PIA)--Close to 300 deserving high school graduates from various indigent communities in Quezon City will receive college scholarships from the city government.

According to Rod Torres, coordinator of the School Youth Development Program, qualified students will receive a total of P5,500 each covering tuition and allowance every semester.

Last semester, a total of 276 scholarships were given to indigent high school graduates residing in Quezon City.

"Ang target po talaga ng programa ni Mayor Herbert Bautista ay 1,000 na mga graduates. Kasisimula lang po namin last semester at meron na kaming 276 na mga scholars sa buong Quezon City. Ngayong semester naman, nasa 300 na estudyante ang makaka-avail ng programa," he said.

The city government urged qualified high school graduates to apply for the next batch of scholarships until the first week of May.

Those who wish to apply for scholarships are required to present his/her birth certificate, certificate of indigency from the barangay, income tax returns of parents, 2x2 ID pictures and a copy of scholastic record or report card.
