Quake rumbles southern California

Manila News.Net
Friday 9th January, 2009

A moderate earthquake has hit southern California.

Even though the quake measured 5.0 in magnitude, it caused no casualties.

It was centred near San Bernadino, some 88 kilometres east of Los Angeles.

The tremor caused disquiet among residents, who are aware a major earthquake is due for California.

It came only six months after a 5.4 earthquake jolted Los Angeles, where seismologists have said an earthquake measuring over 7.0 is 99 per cent certain within the next 30 years.
