ROXAS CITY, Capiz, March 8 (PIA6) -- The Capiz provincial government has vowed its support to the national health insurance program.
This was affirmed in the recent signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and the provincial government here through Governor Antonio Del Rosario.
Capiz PhilHealth Information Officer Mary Jane Amigo said that Governor Del Rosario has vowed to earmark an annual budget to ensure that the province's barangay service workers (BSWs) will have PhilHealth insurance every year.
Last month, top officials of PhilHealth with Del Rosario, led in the distribution of PhilHealth Identification Cards to 481 BSWs from Roxas City, Amigo said.
She added that the local chief executive likewise pledged to expand the program to other towns.
On the other hand, PhilHealth Western Visayas Vice President Lourdes Diocson lauded the provincial government here for showing its genuine concern for its people who are extending services for the government.
Other PhilHealth officials likewise explained that with the enrollment of the BSWs to the said health insurance, they will be able to access PhilHealth's Primary Care Benefits which are now being expanded to the members of the formal sector, Amigo said.
Also present during the distribution of PhilHealth IDs and MOA signing were PhilHealth Concurrent OIC-Vice President and Head Executive Assistant Dr. Israel Francis Pargas, PhilHealth Area 3 Vice President Dr. Leo Douglas Cardona Jr., Capiz PhilHealth head Joe Frederick Diaz, Provincial Legal Officer Ronnie Dadivas and Hospital Management Unit Chief Melanie Arancillo, among others.
