TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, November 5 (PIA) - The first ever collection of inspiring stories of ten full-blooded Tuguegaraoenos in one beautiful book was formally launched at the SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown on October 20, 2018.
Eloisa De Yro Mangulad, one of the writers, said the book entitled 'Pamarigan Ana na Tuguegarao' aims to inspire the people who will be able to read it particularly the Ibanag and Itawes people.
The book is an ouput nine Tuguegaraoenos teachers during the regional evaluators training on learning resource materials on July 2017 held in the City of Ilagan, Isabela.
Aside from Mangulad, the other teacher-writers of the book are Evangeline Palejo, Carmen Acain, (both school principals) George Andal, Rose Yap Reycel Uy, Mara Macalan and Fe Taguba.
"Personal choice ng writers ang mga na-feature. We were asked to write about people who greatly influenced or inspired us," said Mangulad.
'Pamarigan', is an Ybanag word which means role model or worthy of emulation.
During the launching, the Tuguegaraoenos featured in the book and teacher-writers were given Plaque of Recognition and a copy of the maiden issue of the book.
The personalities featured in the book are: Director Purita S. Licas, (regional director of the Philippine Information Agency Region 2), Engr. Ralph Pablo (regional director of the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources - Cordillera Administrative Region ), General Paul Atal (head of the Cebu City-based Centcom), General Milfredo Melegrito, Rommel Adducul (professional basketball player), Jasmine Arielle Ting (cosmopolitan magazine editorial fellow), John Carl Camayang, Ben Alan (US-based visual artist), Mac Allen Cacacho and Emidio Maribbay.
Mangulad said the launching of the 'Pamarigan Ana na Tuguegarao' book was made possible through Cagayan Third District Representative Randolph S. Ting who funded the printing of the maiden issues of the book.
Ting, and Dr. Denizon Domingo, schools division superintendent of SDO-Cagayan (former SDO-Tuguegarao City SDS) promised to publish the second issue of the book.
Benjamin De Yro, also a Cagayano writer who was tasked to give his book review said every page beams with Tuguegarao pride.
"The book highlights ten personalities, that links generations and bridges the gaps. It becomes a fulcrum of who we are, what we can do and what we have done. Heritage after all is not only about structures, natural wonders, customs and traditions, languages, expressions or material things; heritage is also about people which PAMARIGAN successfully fused into one," he said.
The launching of the book was attended by the honorees themselves and their families, public officials, representatives from the Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), and officials from the Department of Education (DepEd) Cagayan and Tuguegarao City divisions. (MDCT/PIA-2)
