SAN FERNANDO CITY, Nov. 7 (PIA) - The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) in the region in partnership with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) will conduct the first regional GAD budget forum on November 15 and 16 in Vigan City.
More than 200 GAD focal persons and budget officers from regional line agencies, state universities, and colleges and local government units in Region 1 are expected to attend the said forum.
"First day will be on November 15 which will be allotted for the line agencies and SUCs while the second day will be for those from the LGUs," Atty. Harold Kub-aron, chair of RGADC-1, said.
The forum will orient the participants on the preparation of the annual GAD plan and budget and the revised guidelines in the audit of GAD funds and activities.
It will likewise present the importance of the Harmonized GAD guidelines in increasing the gender responsiveness of government programs and budgets.
"We also hope that any issues and concerns encountered in the preparation and implementation of these plans and budget will be raised and discussed in this event," Atty. Kuba-aron, also the regional director of the Commission on Human Rights-1, said.
According to PCW Executive Director Emmiline Verzosa , on their website ,the "undertaking is in line with our efforts to localize the Magna Carta of Women and the first time to conduct the event in partnership with the RGADCs."
Same GAD budget forum was also held in Butuan City in CARAGA and Legazpi City in Bicol region this year.
Aside from Ilocos region, GAD budget fora in CAR and Central Visayas are also scheduled this November.
In September, members of the RGADC-1 were also trained on basic concepts such as Gender Analysis Tools, Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Mainstreaming and Evaluation Framework (GMEF) and the Harmonized GAD guidelines (JNPD/JDS/PIA-1, La Union)
