Ilocos Norte stages Semana Ti Ar-aria 2018

LAOAG CITY, Nov. 5 (PIA) - To infuse more fun in the celebration of Halloween bash in Ilocos Norte, the Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) here has again staged the annual 'Semana Ti Ar-aria' in time for the holiday week for the All Saints and All Souls Day.

This year's theme featured the feels of an Ilocano-Mexican Festival with a fun-filled activities for some tourists to enjoy, as well, as the locals while they enjoyed the long weekend vacation from work and school.

To kick-off the celebration, the departments in the provincial designed their offices with Mexican-inspired ornaments, mixed with the rich festival culture of the Ilocano, for the annual trick-or-treat activity for the children.

"This year's theme may resemble with the animated film titled "Coco" an American computer-fantasy film," said Stewart Ocampo of the Provincial Communications and Media Office.

To put a new flavor to the annual "Day of Dead" Festival, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte featured the first Mobile Legends tournament as highlight to the 7th Semana Ti Ar-aria.

Simultaneous with the elimination round conducted at the Robinsons Place Ilocos on October 26 was the Mobile Legends Cosplay Competition which featured different Costume Player with their favorite anime' character.

Other highlights of this year's event are the Ar-aria Food Strip in the Laoag City Dap-ayan which ran from October 26 to November 2; the Marmarna Festival in the City of Batac on October 26; and the Capitol Trick and Treat on October 27.

Short film competition for horror is also part of the continuing events for this year's staging of the festival on October 29 to 31.

Meanwhile, traditional Tumba Festival in Paoay town was held on on November 1 and 2 and the Parada Iloca-Ilocana was scheduled on Nov. 5.

Tumba is a cultural tradition of the town of Paoay, Ilocos Norte where all barangays of Paoay compete and to showcase various Ilocano traditions in honoring the dead spirits. (JNPD/CJDG,PIA-1, Ilocos Norte)
