NAGA CITY, Dec. 4 (PIA) - In observance of the 26th Nationwide Celebration of Children's Month, the City Government of Naga thru the Naga City Council for the Welfare and Protection of Children (NCCWPC) spearheaded the conduct of a talent competition for EDUCARE pupils dubbed EDUCARE GOT TALENT 6, Nov. 26 at the Robinsons Place Atrium, here.
EDUCARE pupils from 19 EDUCARE Centers from different barangays of the city competed with each other and showcased their knowledge, skills and talents on various performing fields such as singing, dancing and drama.
Dancing little talents from the EDUCARE Center of Barangay Trianggulo was adjudged first place winner earning them a trophy, P5,000.00 cash prize plus P2,000.00 for the teacher. Second Place winner went to EDUCARE Center of Brgy. Sta. Cruz with P3,500.00 cash prize plus trophy and P1,500.00 for the teacher, while the 3rd Place went to Brgy. Mabolo EDUCARE Center with P2,000.00 cash prize plus trophy and P1,000.00 for the teacher. Non-winners were awarded with plaques of participation.
The talent competition served as a simple expression of the city government to promote and support the welfare and best interest of the children as mandated by the United Nations Convention on the rights of the Child.
City Councilor and NCCWPC Co-Chairman Elmer Baldemoro said that the activity demonstrated not only the enthusiasm of the children but also that of their parents and teachers to engage in meaningful, healthy and artistic activities.
Baldemoro stated that "the activity aims to encourage young Nagueno EDUCARE pupils to develop and advance their talents in several arts, as well as providing them a competitive environment that encourages participation and learning experience to these young children."
With the theme: "Isulong: Tamaing Pag-aaruga para sa Lahat na Bata," this year's celebration of the National Children's Month focused on the promotion of collaborative efforts to end child abuse.
The celebration of Children's Month in Nov. of every year is pursuant to Republic Act 10661 signed by then President Benigno S. Aquino III on May 29, 2015. It seeks to instil its significance in the Filipino consciousness. (LSM,JRM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
