CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Dec. 13 (PIA) -- To ensure an increase in farm productivity as well as farmers' income, the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Region 10 granted the city government thru the City Agriculture Office various farm equipment/post-harvest facilities.
During a regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, the City Council enacted an ordinance authorizing Mayor Oscar Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with DA-10 for the purpose.
Under the MOA, DA shall evaluate and validate the proposed project of the city, turn over the goods to the city as grant scheme upon compliance of all the required documents.
It shall monitor the activities of the beneficiary, including the operation and maintenance of the project.
DA shall also provide guidelines in the implementation of the different interventions as Annex B for livestock program and Annex C for rice, corn, HVCC and OA program, among others.
For its part, the city shall secure all legal documents as needed by the project and shall have full accountability for any problem or issue arising from it.
It shall orient the recipient in the operations, maintenance, and implementing guidelines of the project, among others.
The MOA was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on agriculture and fisheries and on laws and rules respectively chaired by councilors Annie Y. Daba and Ian Mark Q. Nacaya. (SP/JBD)
