CEBU, June 10 (PIA) -- The lead celebration for this year's Independence Day will be done at Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu with the theme: "Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan."
The 121st Independence Day celebration will take place at Liberty Shrine, Brgy. Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City on June 12, 2019.
The flag-raising ceremony will start at 8:00 a.m. followed by a floral offering.
The event is expected to be attended by top officials from National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), Cebu provincial government, Lapu-Lapu City government, and government line agencies.
NHCP has chosen to hold this year's Independence Day celebration in Lapu-Lapu City in line with their preparations for the quincentennial anniversary of the Christian faith's arrival in the country.
Meanwhile, the Lapu-Lapu city government in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-7) here will also hold a jobs fair dubbed "Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) Job and Business Opportunities" on June 12, 2019 at Hoops Dome, Brgy. Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.
The event will serve as the one-stop shop for services from the following government agencies: Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG, Philhealth, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC), and Technical Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-7) will also stage their Diskwento Caravan and One-on-One Business Coaching while DOLE-7 will hold their Livelihood Beneficiaries Fair, a product display of DOLE-assisted projects. (PIA7/rmn)
