SAN FERNANDO CITY, June 11 (PIA) -- A total of 2,933 job openings will be available in the job and business fairs in La Union on June 12 as part of the 121st Independence Day celebration.
Veronica Corsino, head of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) - La Union, said 1,820 overseas jobs and 1,113 domestic employment opportunities will be offered in the whole-day activity.
"Interested applicants including fresh graduates are welcome to apply from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the the Union Christian College (UCC) in this city," Corsino told the Philippine Information Agency.
She said as of Tuesday, 21 local employers and seven overseas recruitment firms signified their participation in the Kalayaan job fair.
"We are expecting more employers to confirm their participation until tomorrow morning," she said.
Aside from the job fair, a business fair to be facilitated by the Department of Trade and Industry will also be held to provide business and livelihood opportunities to the people.
The provincial DOLE chief said the business fair will be specifically participated in by livelihood project beneficiaries of DOLE La Union from this city.
Other government agencies will also be at the venue to provide services to the jobseekers. Among them include the Public Employment Service Office, Social Security System, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philhealth, Pag-IBIG, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
Meanwhile, aside from UCC in La Union, other venues of Kalayaan job fairs in the region are in Candon Civic Center, Candon City, Ilocos Sur and Nepo Mall, Dagupan City, Pangasinan. (JNPD/PIA La Union)
