BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, July 16 (PIA) - The provincial government here is offering scholarship for the youth to help them obtain quality education.
Dubbed as 'Sagut' Scholarship Program, Governor Carlos Padilla said this endeavour aims to help poor but deserving students in improving their lives.
"It was designed as a tool for the agri-industrialization of the province which was supported by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan," he said.
Padilla said the scholarship slots are parceled to the 15 towns of the province with 5 slots each per school year.
The 75 scholarship-applicants will be screened by the Provincial Scholarship Committee (PSC).
Qualifications for the scholarship program are the following: 1) Filipino citizen and resident of the province; 2) high school graduate or its equivalent from duly authorized institution; 3) with good moral character and with no criminal record, provided that this requirement shall be waived for programs which target children in conflict with the law and those who are undergoing and undergone rehabilitation; 4) admitted to Higher Education Institution (HEI) or Technical-Vocational Institutes (TVIs) included in the Registry of Program and Institutions of the applicant's choice, provided that the applicants may begin processing their applications within a reasonable time frame set by the Committee to give applicant sufficient time to enroll, if applicant is in TVET programs, he/she shall pass the TESDA screening/assessment procedure, must obtain at least the score required by the Committee for the State University Entrance Examination System and other qualifications as maybe required by the Committee.
