QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya, July 17 (PIA) -- A cell site is expected to be built in Barangay Runruno here to provide communication access among the villagers.
Ian Moller, FCF Minerals Corporation's General Manager for Sustainability, said the project is being worked out by the firm and Barangay Local Government Unit of Runruno.
"Our office in Makati City is coordinating with cell phone companies inorder to facilitate the speedy establishment of this project," Moller said, adding that the project is a consortium undertaking between FCF Minerals Corp. and the Runruno BLGU.
Barangay officials said the cell site project will benefit more than 4,000 villagers in barangay Runruno and more in its adjacent villages.
They said the project will also contribute to the barangay's socio-economic growth.
According to Moller, they are now waiting for the issuance of an Environmental Compliance Certificate from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the project.
"It is a powerful project that relies on electricity. This will address the problem of weak or no signal at all in barangay Runruno," he added.
Once built, the cell site project will be protected and managed by the Runruno villagers particularly its protection and maintenance of its access road, Moller further said. (ALM/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
