JIMENEZ, Misamis Occidental July 12 (PIA)--As part of its efforts to streamline regulatory processes in the municipality, the town of Jimenez and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in partnership with Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched the first ever electronic Business Permits and Licensing System (eBPLS) in the province of Misamis Occidental and Northern Mindanao held at the Sanguniang Bayan Hall, Municipal Building, Jimenez.

eBPLS is one of the projects of the DICT that aims to provide automation, an easier and faster process of business permits and licenses application in the municipality.

In her message, Mayor Rosario Balais said, "It is our pride that the Local Government of Jimenez is the first Municipality in the province of Misamis Occidental and Northern Mindanao that was able to use the system from application to printing of business permit."

"Through eBPLS, the time and effort of business registration and renewal was trimmed down because of the system," Balais added.

She also said, "It really helps increase the collection and income, it encourages and attracts investors, it upgrades the quality of service of the municipality and it disciplines the applicants, business owners to get the permit in time because they know that eBPLS cannot be adjusted or changed."

"As a third termer Mayor, my goal is to make this municipality a business friendly with the help of eBPLS," she added.

At the e-BPLS launching, project manager, Teresita Roberto congratulated the LGU of Jimenez for a great effort to formally launch the system.

She said this is just the initial step and we are truly hopeful that there would be other achievements to be earned by your municipality.

Roberto said, "Through our cluster offices, we provide additional awareness and for those who wants our system, we also give hands on training and other support like installation for Wi-Fi project."

Meanwhile, DILG Provincial Director, Pablio Benetiz urged other municipalities in the province of Misamis Occidental to replicate eBPLS because this is the priority program of President Rodrigo Duterte, to reduce the requirements and processing time of all government transactions.

He said this process shortens the time and provides up to date information.

This will set a standard business process flow for the online processing of business permits as citizens can just log on to the LGU's website and access the e-BPLS to submit their applications online.

Benetiz delivered the message of Arnel Agabe, the DILG Regional Director saying "Congratulations to the LGU of Jimenez for this lead towards progress by officially launching the EBPLS here in the municipality.

"Now, we can say goodbye to long and previous processes in the application of the business permit and licenses as we now welcome the automated system here in Jimenez," he added.

With the help from DICT and other partner agencies, Jimenez town is now able to automate their business permit and licensing. (Shaine Mae R. Nagtalon/PIA MisOcc)
