BUTUAN CITY, Sept. 9 (PIA) -- Talented students of Agusan National High School (ANHS) were recognized for conceptualizing a movie that enlightens the people from the chaos and insurgency caused by the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA).
This was after the ANHS was declared as the over-all champion in their movie produced entitled "Kulintas," during the awarding ceremony.
The movie entitled "Gomad" of Northwestern Agusan Colleges in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte bagged the second place while the Mother of Mercy Academy in Barobo, Surigao del Sur received the 3rd place award for their movie entitled "Ang Ugma."
Winners received P35,000 for the 1st placer; P20,000 for the 2nd placer; and P15,000 each for three honorable mentions. Individual awards were P15,000 for Best Director; P10,000 for Best Picture; P5,000 for Best Actor; P5,000 for Best Actress; P15,000 for People's Choice award, P50,000 for Congressional awards, P20,000 for Gawad Gilberto DC Cruz Award for Excellence and P15,000 for Chief PNP's Choice Award.
According to PNP Caraga regional director Police Brigadier General Gilberto DC Cruz, the creativity of the students in conceptualizing the reality of what is happening in the different communities and reflecting it in their own produced movies only showed that they are keen observant and have concern for the people affected.
Meanwhile, Police Major General Benigno Durana Jr., directorate for police community relations of the PNP, this initiative creates great impact to the people and will help save the future of the youth as they will not become victims of the deceptions of the CPP-NPA.
