Ifugao joins Civil Service Month celebration

LAGAWE, Ifugao, Sept. 10 (PIA) - - The provincial local government leads the 119th anniversary celebration of the Philippine Civil Service this September launching it with a short program at the provincial capitol on Tuesday(Sept. 2).

The month-long event with the theme, "Civil Service at 119: Upholding Integrity and Building a High-Trust Society," celebrates the achievements and contributions of the men and women in government who uphold the country's societal goals and over-all vision.

During the program, government workers were enjoined to work and provide excellent service to the public.

Other activities lined up include fun walk on September 13 to be participated by all state workers and other interested individuals with a registration fee of P100.00. The route will start from the provincial capitol to Burnay and Boliwong and back to capitol.

A Civil Servants' Day will also be held on Sept. 19 at the public plaza with a contest on choral competition. The activity with start with a parade of capitol employees around the poblacion.

The following day, September 20, PLGU employees will hold a tree visitation and clean-up drive at Mt. Atugu in Hingyon town where they previously planted various fruit-bearing trees.

The celebration culminates on September 27 with a family day that features sports activity, parlor games and Search for PLGU's Bugan and Wigan among 50 years old and above employees of the provincial government.

Some municipal government units are also doing their own CSC anniversary celebrations.

The Civil Service Month is commemorated pursuant to Public Law No. 5, "An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands" dated September 19, 1900. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
