DUMAGUETE CITY, Sept. 17 (PIA) -- All Job Order workers and Casual employees in the city government of Dumaguete will receive across-the-board wage increase beginning November 2019.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo made the announcement during the opening salvo of the 119th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary on Sept. 9 at the City Hall grounds before hundreds of employees and officials.
City Budget Officer Antonieta General said once implemented, the lowest paid Job Order worker will get a minimum of P350 per day or higher while the lowest paid casual employee gets P380 per day or more.
Remollo has requested the City Council under Vice Mayor Alan Gel Cordova with Councilor Lilani Ramon, Chairperson of the Committee on Finance and Appropriation to pass the required appropriation ordinance.
This would mark the second time that the JO workers will get a wage increase and the first for casual employees after many years.
The first increase for JOs was P50 per day implemented in Remollo's first term considering that the JOs, unlike casuals and regular employees could not receive bonuses and benefits.
The city government has also fully complied with the modified salary schedule for regular employees in four tranches consistent with Executive Order No. 201 series of 2016.
Remollo urged the city employees to be honest and sincere in their work and render service to the citizens who paid for their salaries through taxes collected. (jct/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from CPIO Dems Demecillo)
