MAASIN CITY, Oct. 22 (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)- Southern Leyte Provincial Office opened its Statistical Exhibition Wednesday, Oct. 16, in a launching activity held at Metro Hyper (Gaisano), this city.
The exhibit showcased the demographic profile of the province, among other information gathered by PSA.
"This is one way of disseminating the importance of statistics through data innovation," PSA -8 Regional Director Wilma Perante said in her message.
"This is also to ensure that in data innovation, we could improve the economy of the province of Southern Leyte through presentation of data in programming and improving the processes in collecting information," she added.
Perante said that they are already using digital tablets in data collection.
Perante was thankful to the Metro Hyper management that gave a free space for the said exhibit, including the representatives from participating agencies that were present during the launching program such as the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Education, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Philippine Information Agency, and other provincial representatives.
PSA Provincial Office led by Eutemio Llevado Jr and his provincial staff were also in attendance, among other Provincial Statistics Officers in the region.
The statistical exhibit is in line with the National Statistics Month celebration this October 2019 which carries the theme as, "Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation."
Among other activities for the month-long NSM are Consumer Fun Run, Poster Making Contest, Tree Planting, Philippine Statistics Quiz, and a series of Consumer Rights and Responsibilities seminar. (esg/rgc/PIA8-SoLeyte)
