SAN JOSE, Antique, Oct. 23 (PIA) - - The conduct of medical, dental and information caravan in the identified barangays of San Remigio and Valderrama towns will be the first activity of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) in step with President Duterte's Executive Order No. 70 institutionalizing the "Whole-of-Nation" Approach.
Peace Order and Public Safety Office head Margie L. Gadian said San Remigio and Valderrama are inland municipalities with several of their barangays situated in the hinterlands, hence, there is a need to harmonize the delivery of basic services so that the people in the community will feel the government's concern to help improve their life.
"The municipal mayors of San Remigio and Valderrama have expressed support to this undertaking and are actually ready to serve various sectors coming from the far flung barangays on October 24 and 25, respectively," Gadian said.
The medical, dental and information caravan will be undertaken in partnership with the national and provincial government agencies, Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army.
Gadian reminded the participating government agencies to come early because "if we reach the area earlier, we can serve more people and bring the government closer to the people."
EO No. 70, which institutionalizes the Whole-of-Nation approach, addresses the root causes of insurgencies, internal disturbances and tensions, and other armed conflicts and threats by prioritizing and harmonizing the delivery of basic services and social development packages by the government, facilitating societal inclusivity, and ensuring active participation of all sectors of the society in the pursuit of the country's peace agenda.
It will be recalled that Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, through Executive Order 119, established the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF ELCAC) to ensure inter-agency convergence in the implementation of the Whole-of-Nation Approach framework in conflict-affected and vulnerable areas in the province.
