CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Nov. 7 - Recognizing the added value of packaging to all types of products, the Department of Science and Technology Region X (DOST X) will host an Innovative Packaging Technologies Forum to tackle topics on the latest trends in Packaging and Labeling and Mandatory Labeling Requirements in the Philippines on November 12 at Hotel de Susana Resort, Valencia City, Bukidnon.
Invited speakers are experts from the Packaging Division of the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) and a US-trained and Philippines foremost expert from Central Philippines University in Iloilo City.
"Packaging plays a critical role in our lives, in our society, and the economy. It is given a greater role, whether in the area of business or bigger concerns like food security and environmental issues. This has become possible mainly because of technology advancements and innovations that have widened the scope of relevance and reach for the packaging industry," said DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Pena in his speech during the 6th Asia Packaging Network (APN) International Packaging Symposium on October 23, 2019.
DOST 10 in coordination with the DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute aims to give our MSMEs the idea and updates on the newest packaging trends which can improve the shelf-life of their products and enhance their packaging.
The current Mandatory Labeling Requirements can also help the MSMEs in updating their labeling that is acceptable for export and can access to better markets.
The Innovative Packaging Technologies forum is one of the parallel activities of the DOST 10 celebration of 2019 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) which will be held on November 11-13, 2019 at Robinson's Place, Valencia City, Bukidnon.
The Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) is an annual celebration that highlights the current innovations and technologies which can improve the agricultural and industrial facet in the people of Northern Mindanao, especially in Bukidnon.
