CCP to bring outreach program, Philharmonic concert to Aklan

KALIBO, Aklan, Nov. 13 (PIA6) -- Aklanons here will be treated to a free concert of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) to highlight and culminate an outreach program of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) in Aklan from November 30 to December 2 of this year.

The outreach program of the CCP in Aklan through the PPO is in collaboration with the Antique Lone District Representative and Office of House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Loren B. Legarda, Aklan Vice Governor Atty. Reynaldo M. Quimpo, and Mayor Dexter M. Calizo of the municipality of Balete.

The outreach program is in the form of a "Mentoring Activity" for pre-qualified musicians of Aklan, individuals or ensembles (groups).

The pre-qualification process will require those interested to write a letter addressed to Mr. Nicanor Lizaso, President, CCP c/o the Office of the Vice Governor, Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Provincial Capitol, Kalibo, Aklan.

Interested parties must state their willingness to be mentored, and disclose what kind of instruments they are playing so they can be organized into groups and assigned by the PPO the appropriate "Master" (teacher).

Deadline for application is November 15, 2019.

The "Masters Mentoring Program" will be held at the Infant Jesus Academy (IJA) classrooms in Kalibo, Aklan.

The outreach program will culminate with a concert of the PPO dubbed "An Enchanting Evening in Balete" on December 1 at 6:00 p.m. at the Teodoro F. Calizo Sr. Memorial Civic Center to celebrate the Centennial Foundation Anniversary of the municipality of Balete.

Vice Governor Quimpo said admission to the concert is free on a first come, first served basis due to limited seats at the center.

Quimpo said municipal officials, heads of schools, music teachers and all music enthusiasts in the province have been invited to watch the concert as this is a one-time opportunity to witness the performance of the PPO.

The 80-man PPO is widely recognized as one of the top ensembles in the Asia Pacific Region and its outreach program aims to promote music appreciation to all Filipinos especially those in the underserved communities not only in Metro Manila but also to other regions in the country.
