ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Nov. 13 (PIA) - The new commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army has called on the remaining members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) terrorist to surrender to the government.
Brigadier General Eric Vinoya, who has assumed the post as the new Division Commander last November 12, renewed his appeal to those who have yet not returned to the folds of law to surrender and live a peaceful and normal life.
"Sumuko na kayo at i avail ang mga programa ng gobyerno. Pag di kayo sumuko, wala na tayong pag-uusapan. Alam nyo na kung ano ang mangyayari sa inyo," Vinoya said.
He said the government is sincere to help the terrorist group should they surrender, but also sincere to crack down on them should they resist to do so.
He added that the government has many programs to offer to them such as the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which many of the surrenderees have already availed of and benefited from.
Vinoya, who served as the Joint Task Force Negros Commander and the 3ID's Assistant Division Commander, replaced Major General Dinoh Dolina, who will be retiring from the military service on November 14.
He also pledged to continue the programs which were started by Dolina, particularly in clearing of terrorism the Panay and Negros islands by March 2020.
He also urged local government officials and the various government agencies to help and work together to end local communist armed conflict (ELCAC) through good governance, especially on the delivery of basic services to the communities.
Vinoya added that the "Whole-of-Nation" approach of the government is seen as the key to solve insurgency. (JBG/PIA6-Capiz)
