HINGYON, Ifugao, Nov. 13 (PIA) - - Government agencies here are continuously providing enhancement training to students to be disaster first responders in the community to prevent the loss of lives and properties.
Thirty two selected students of Hingyon National High School in Northern Cababuyan were trained on Basic Life Support spearheaded by the Hingyon Municipal Police Station (MPS) in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection and HNHS.
The three-day event is an integral part of the Philippine National Police and the local government unit's plan to train various core groups of disaster first responders in every barangay and school in the municipality.
Topics discussed by subject experts include basic first aid, cardio pulmonary resuscitation, bandaging, splinting, basic carries, victim packaging in spine board and basic knot tying.
The participants showcased the learned skills in a practical test and simulation exercises as part of the three-day training. An Emergency Response Training will also be conducted this month the Hingyon MPS and the municipal government.
Hingyon town is a landslide prone area, thus individuals trained on disaster management are needed to augment the PNP and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Office personnel during occurrence of calamities. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao with report from PCMS Moreno Cumahling, Hingyon MPS)
