ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Dec. 5 (PIA) -- Newly installed Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) acting provincial director Col. Julio Gustilo, Jr. urged policemen in the province to serve the people with a happy heart, utmost courtesy, and discipline.
"People always seek and look for the police when they are in trouble. Let them feel that you are the true superheroes," the Capiceno police official and then PNP Aviation Security Group - 6 director said in his message during the turnover of command ceremony, Dec. 2, at the CPPO gymnasium in Camp Teodorico C. Apil here.
Gustilo assumed as the province's top cop from outgoing Col. Canilo Fuentes in a ceremony that was graced by Police Regional Office (PRO) - 6 director Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan and Gov. Esteban Evan B. Contreras, among others.
He also reminded them to avoid getting involved in illegal activities particularly illegal drugs to leave behind a legacy of good service reputation to their name, family and the police organization.
Gustilo stressed that he will prioritize internal cleansing and engage people's participation to "weed out" erring policemen from the ranks.
However, he also conveyed his concern to his colleagues in uniform by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and carrying out the job without the risk of acquiring any illnesses to enjoy the noble time of retirement days with loved ones in the future.
"Faith and fear of God," he added, noting that this will keep police authorities from going astray or beyond the legal bounds of the law.
Also, he asked the support and cooperation of local officials and the various sectors in the pursuit of a vigorous and no let-up campaign against illegal drugs as well as illegal gambling and in the implementation of Executive Order No. 70 that institutionalizes the whole-of-nation approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace by putting an end to local insurgency.
Gustilo belongs to the prestigious Philippine National Police Academy Class 1992 and was the director of PNP Aviation Security Group - 6 prior to his assignment to lead the CPPO. (LTP/AAL/PIA Capiz)
