ZAMBOANGA CITY, Dec 3 (PIA) - The Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority (Zamboecozone) aims to gain more investment opportunities in Zamboanga City particularly among the agriculture and fisheries industry. This project aims to generate more jobs and encourage local entrepreneurship in the communities.

Zamboecozone, with the Ateneo de Zambaonga University and the City Government of Zamboanga as its Institutional Partners, held the city's 3rd Chief Executive Officers and Chief Financial Officers Conference on November 29, 2019, at the Ateneo de Zamboanga Lantaka Campus. Over 160 Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Government Officials and other industry leaders attended conference.

"This event aims to serve as an avenue to discuss investment and growth opportunities in the agriculture and fisheries sector. It is also an opportune time to have an in-depth discussion on the current agricultural setting in Mindanao along with its potential to the local and foreign market," said ZAMBOECOZONE Chairman and Administrator Christopher Lawrence S. Arnuco.

Chairman Arnuco presented Zamboecozone's four priority projects namely the West Corporate Centre, Asian Halal Centre, San Ramon Newport, and the La Paz Biotech farms.

The conference was an avenue for the concerned sectors' concerns to be addressed. Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar highlighted the local government's support in addressing agricultural issues such as El Nino and Climate Change.

Furthermore, during the conference there was a signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Alliance for the Development of the Business Process Outsourcing between ZAMBOECOZONE, Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU), Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ), and Western Mindanao State University (WMSU). This strategic partnership will harness the resources of ZAMBOECONE and of these major educational institutions as a major language training hub, and a steady supply of qualified and certified BPO practitioners.
