CABARROGUIS, Quirino, Dec. 12 (PIA)-- The families of the late Police Officer Jerome Luwwi C. Cardenas who was Killed in Police Operation (KIPO) and Police Corporal Sonny M. Tadeo who was Wounded in Police Operation (WIPO) recently received livelihood starter kits from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
It can be recalled that Cardenas was killed in a firefight when a group of New Peoples Army (NPA) attacked the Maddela Police Station in 2017 while Tadeo incurred injuries due to explosion of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Purok 1, Barangay Diduyon, Maddela, Quirino while returning to their camp at Dipantan, Nagtipunan also in 2017.
Darlene C. Cardenas, the wife of the late PO2 Cardenas received the kits consisting of basic necessities and prime commodities from Maddela Police Deputy Chief Joseph U. Ocampo, Mayor Mayor Florante T. Ruiz STIDS Shiela A. Nera, STIDS Efren A. dela Cruz, EEO George O. Colebra, SBC Rachelle Joy I. Milliona and JBC Crissa E. Arios.
The kits were displayed at Cardenas Enterprises located at Purok Ligaya Norte, Dipintin, Maddela., Quirino.
Before handing the kits, Junior Business Counselor Crissa E. Arios of Negosyo Center Maddela oriented Cardenas on how she could sustain her business. The rewards of being an entrepreneur were also highlighted to encourage her to do more in venturing into business.
"Thank you for the starter kits, it will be a great help to us," Darlene said as she assured the government of the sustainability of the project.
On the other hand, Police Corporal Sonny M. Tadeo received two goats in recognition to his services to the nation. Tadeo, Tadeo underwent major surgical operations and upon his recovery e returned and continued to render his services as a police officer. He is currently assigned at Diffun Police Station.
Tadeo said he is very thankful to the government for the Comprehensive Social Benefits Program (CSBP) for WIPO and HIPO.
"Kahit ganito ang nangyari, binigyan parin kami ni Lord ng pangalawang buhay upang ipagpatuloy ang aming misyon para sa bayan," Tadeo said during the recent awarding of the livelihood starter kits at the at the Negosyo Center Building, Andres Bonifacio, Diffun.
The awarding is in line with the Comprehensive Social Benefits Program (CSBP) for Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and PNP personnel who were killed in action/wounded in action (KIA/WIA) and killed in police operations/wounded in police operation (KIPO/WIPO).
It is a project of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Department of National Defense (DND), in cooperation with the Office of the President (OP) and supporting agencies like DTI.
DTI will also be providing business starter kits and related livelihood trainings to other beneficiaries of the CSBP. (MDCT/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
