CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Feb. 14 (PIA) - The 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based in Gamu town has partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) - 2 for faster relief goods distribution especially in times of calamities.
Maj. Gen. Pablo M. Lorenzo and DSWD -2 Director Fernando R. De Villa Jr. signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the 5ID, PA Officers Club, Camp Melchor Dela Cruz, Gamu, Isabela on February 10, 2020.
Under the MOU, available facilities in the military camps of the 5ID, PA will be used as warehouses in the prepositioning of relief goods in times of calamities particularly on disaster response and relief goods distribution.
Lorenzo offered the available facilities for warehouses in times of calamities located at 5th Civil Military Operations Batallion and 502nd Infantry Brigade at Camp Melchor Dela Cruz Annex in Soyung, Echague, Isabela.
"The MOU is a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration of the AFP and DSWD in fostering local involvement in implementing comprehensive and social welfare programs, projects, services and social protection programs especially when disasters and calamities strikes the region," Lorenzo said.
De Villa said the warehouses inside the camps are great help in strengthening a more effective and efficient delivery of services like relief goods and medical needs during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) activities to the affected communities.
"With the facilities offered by the 5ID, PA, a speedy and smooth distribution of services and quick response during calamities will result to reduction and prevention of casualties," De Villa said. (ALM/BME/MGE - PIA-2/Isabela)
