CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Feb. 16 (PIA) - The Department of Agriculture (DA) - 2 in coordination with the Provincial Government of Isabela (PGI) and Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) recently distributed financial assistance, agri-machineries and equipment sto Isabela farmers.
The DA assistance is an intervention of the government to help farmers facing the Rice Tariffication Law(RTL) which has affected the price of rice crops in the country.
Senator Christopher Lawrence Go, Isabela Gov. Rodolfo Albano III, Vice Gov. Faustino G. Dy III and DA -2 officials led the distribution of assistance to 1, 604 rice farmers from the City of Ilagan and 727 more from Jones town.
DA -2 Director Narciso Edillo said that the assistance was part of the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) Program where a farmer can receive one-time cash grant of Five Thousand Pesos (P5,000.00) to cope up with the low prize of palay.
"About 1,604 from City of Ilagan and 727 rice farmers from Jones, Isabela owning two hectares and below personally received the assistance thru Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and can be withdrawn at MLhuillier," Edillo said.
Meanwhile, Senator Christoher Lawrence Go said that the financial assistance for farners was a brainchild of the President.
"Mahal na mahal kayo ng Pangulo kaya naisipan niya ang ganitong programa para kayo ay matulungan," Go said.
The senator also distributed relief assistance, fishcage materials and relief goods to cities and municipalities stricken by calamities in Cagayan and Isabela provinces. (MDCT/BME/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
