TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, March 24 (PIA) - - The regional director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) region 2 has warned barangay officials not to impose fees on the issuance of quarantine pass to their constituents because it is free of charge.
During the first episode of the 'COVID-19 Special Coverage' launched by the Philippine Information Agency, the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, the Tuguegarao City Information Office and the Department of Health, DILG Regional Director Jonathan Paul Leusen said only one pass is issued per household which will be used whenever they go out from their residence to access basic services.
"The pass should be used only if one of the members of the family will go out to buy foods and medicines. The BLGUs are monitoring them on this," Leusen said.
The quarantine pass according to Leusen will be checked should there be checkpoints along their way to ensure that its purpose will not be defeated.
For a quarantine pass to be valid, there should be a signature of the barangay captain or his or her authorized representative.
In case an LGU doesn't want to implement the quarantine pass, Leusen urged the officials to enforce mechanisms to ensure that their constituents are strictly following the enhanced community quarantine policy, specifically limiting movements of people to avoid spread of COVID-19.
"It's up for the LGUs to devise mechanisms to limit the movement of their constituents to make sure that the enhanced community quarantine is observed," he said. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
