DUMAGUETE CITY, March 24 (PIA) -- St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD), through the Paulinian Outreach Foundation Inc. (POFI), has established a community health and development center in Brgy. Bi-os in Amlan town.

SPUD External Affairs Manager and Public Information Officer Corazonita Tumlad said this initiative is undertaken by SPUD administration in their desire to extend health services to the community of Amlan.

A soft opening and blessing of the said facility was held last month with Fr. Roman Sagun who officiated the blessing ceremony.

Amlan Mayor Jose Manuel Sycip and Dr. Robert Turner and Tess Ferrer Turner, members of the Philippine American Association of North Carolina, with members of the Alumni Board of SPUD Alumni Association and the administration attended the said event.

This project was made possible with the help of Silayan Group and SPUD Alumni Association in North America, along with some private individuals, Tumlad added.

Aside from this, volunteer medical doctors, nurses, staff, teachers, and nursing students provided free medical services to around 500 residents of Brgy. Bi-os in a medical mission which was part of the soft opening. (ral/PIA7-Negros Oriental/With reports from SPUD External Affairs)
