TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, March 25 (PIA) - - With the surge of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) confirmed cases and the number of Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) admitted in the hospitals nationwide, the Philippine Health Insurance Coporation (PhilHealth) has enhanced its package rates related to corona virus infections particularly the isolation and referral.

During the second episode of the 'COVID-19 Special Coverage' launched by the Philippine Information Agency, the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, the Tuguegarao City Information Office and the Department of Health, Arsenia B. Torres, PhilHealth regional vice president, said for the admitted patients in the Levels 2 and 3 hospitals, the isolation package case rate is amounting to P14, 0000 .

"Confirmatory tests for COVID-19 must be performed on the PUIs as provided in the guidelines. The isolation package may also be claimed for confirmed case with mild symptoms," Torres said.

She also explained that the referral package rate of P4,000 can be availed when a patient who initially sought medical treatment in a lower level facility was transferred to a higher level for quarantine. "This referral package is specifically designed for the referring hospital," Torres said.

She also said the PhilHealth has also readied a response package to cover the tests for COVID-19 which include the cost of testing and is on the top of the isolation and the referral packages.

As a frontline service provider, Torres said all Local Health Insurance Offices in the region are still open on a regular basis but they adopted precautionary measures to ensure safety of their workforce and their member-clients.

For hospital transactions, she said all documents for the claims of patients are sent electronically to PhilHealth in observance of the contactless transactions for the safety of their frontline service providers in the hospitals. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
