TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, March 26 (PIA) - - Of the 185 persons-under-investigation (PUIs) since January, there were already 99 tested negative based from the results of the laboratory tests from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine as of 8:00 am today, March 26.
Dr. Leticia Cabrera, officer-in-charge of the Department of Health (DOH) region 2, said of the remaining PUIs, 68 are currently admitted in the hospitals awaiting for laboratory results and 16 were also discharged but on strict home quarantine.
Of the total number, there were already 66 PUIs in Cagayan wherein 47 were already tested negative, 58 PUIs in Isabela with 36 negative results, 14 PUIs in Batanes all awaiting for results, 27 PUIs in Nueva Vizcaya with 11 negative results, 10 PUIs in Quirino with two negative results while there are also 10 recorded cases from outside region 2 who were brought to the hospitals of the region with three negative results.
On the number of persons-under-monitoring (PUMs), there were already 49, 581 cases listed which include those who came from countries infected with the virus and those who travelled from Manila before the enhanced community quarantine was implemented by the government.
On his part, Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao, medical center chief ii of the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) said the number of discharged patients with negative laboratory results is much higher than the number of admitted PUIs now.
"We do hope that we sustain this until such time that we already achieve zero PUIs in our hospital," Baggao said.
