KALIBO, AKLAN, March 26 (PIA) --- Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) Provincial Director Police Colonel Esmeraldo P. Osia, Jr. has ordered police officers in the entire province to always observe discipline and hygiene to combat the threat of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The province's top cop said that police officers could effectively and efficiently protect the public against the pandemic, if they are, likewise guarded from the disease and the best way to do such is to strictly enforce among themselves decontamination protocol.

The said protocol extends to the visitors and service vehicles of APPO and of all the municipal police stations in the province.

"Ang disiplina ng buong pwersa ay nagmumula sa ating mga sarili, hindi lamang ito para sa bawat tao na pinaglilingkuran natin, bagkus para rin sa mga mahal natin sa buhay na ating inuuwian", Osia said in a conference with the chiefs of police in Aklan, reminding all Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel of self-discipline.

A week ago, a handwashing station was installed outside Camp Pastor Martelino in New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan; requiring PNP personnel and clients to properly wash their hands before entering the camp, aside from the alcohol-based sanitizing.

According to Police Staff Sergeant Ma. Jane C Vega, Information Officer of APPO, any protocol being done at Camp Martelino, is also practiced in all the police stations in the province.

Vega added that vehicles and individuals are sprayed with disinfectant to allow entry in all Aklan PNP premises.

Disinfectant platform is also provided in headquarters or stations, requiring each person to step in before entering.

Since Monday, March 23, APPO has started implementing the "one entrance and one exit policy" to ensure that everyone follows all the decontamination protocol.

Vega noted that the said practices should be followed by everybody and no one is exempted to ensure that Aklan PNP is a sanctuary of clean forces as directed by PCol. Osia. (LTP/SQP/PIA-Aklan/Thumbnail photo courtesy of APPO)
