PASIG CITY, July 1 (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) is acceptings applications for calamity loan assistance program (CLAP) until September 14, its President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Aurora Ignacio said during the Laging Handa public briefing on Wednesday.
Ignacio said CLAP is a program of the SSS that can be availed by members especially in times of calamities.
"Ito po ay ongoing program ng SSS. 'Pagka ho may calamity sa localized areas, doon po natin binibigay itong calamity loan assistance program. Pero dahil po nagkaroon ng pronouncement ang ating Presidente na ang buong Pilipinas ay under the state of calamity, available ho itong assistance program na ito para sa mamamayan ng buong bansa na nangangailangan ng tulong para sa COVID-19," said Ignacio.
The SSS official revealed that their office has already approved over 300,000 applications since its online launching on June 15, 2020.
"Simula ho ng ni-launch natin ito ng June 15 hanggang June 30, nakapagtala ho tayo ng successful applications na 346,375. Ang equivalent ho nito na binigay natin in pesos, nakapag-approve na ho tayo ng P5.4 billion sa loob lang ho ng 16 days," said Ignacio. She added that the average loanable amount under the program is between P11,500 up to P16,400, with an interest rate of six percent to help SSS members.
However, she clarified that loan applicant members must ensure that their contributions are updated.
"Kailangan ang isang member para makapag apply ng calamity loan assistance program ay nakapag- bayad for the last three years at ang six months ho nito ay dapat naibayad niya (member) doon sa huling 12 months before siya nag apply ng calamity loan assistance program. So, kung hindi ho sila nakapagbayad for the last three years, at wala nga po yung six months na yun in the last 12 months, mare-reject po sila dito."
Ignacio also encouraged SSS members and would-be members to ensure regular contribution payments to avail of the benefits SSS is offering.
"Lahat po ng miyembro ng SSS or would-be members, ini-encourage ho natin talagang ipagpatuloy at walang putol-putol ng payment ng contribution para ma-qualify po kayo dun sa mga dapat na benefits or loan na pwede ninyong ma-avail."
She pointed that there were over 100,000 applications that got rejected since it did not meet the requirements for the loan assistance program. "May na reject po tayo na 119,000 dahil hindi ho sila naka meet."
The SSS official added that to be able to avail of CLAP, members must register online via the My.SSS portal.
"Kailangan sila ay registered sa My.SSS at doon ho sila mag-aaply. Makikita nila yung application form doon. Ilalagay nila ang mga detalye ng kanilang aplikasyon, at doon po din nila ipapadala yun. Makakatanggap ho sila ng notice na sila ay may approval at ino-nominate din nila yung payment na gusto nila."
Ignacio also said that payments can be made either through check issuance or through Union Bank Card or through the UMID ATM Card.
Likewise, the SSS official explained that the terms of payment for the loan is 27 months.
"Ang terms po naman ng loan na ito ay two years plus three months. So, 27 months all in all. Ang ibig sabihin po nito, yung first three months after na nag-apply ay naka moratorium po. Wala ho kayong babayaran na installment during that time at magsisimula ho ang collection on the fourth month after the application." (PIA-NCR)
