NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Aug. 6 (PIA) -- The issuance of Travel Authority to Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) going to areas placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) has been temporarily suspended until August 18 unless extended.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has stopped issuing Travel Authority to LSIs going to the National Capital Region, and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal and Laguna.

However, Authorized Person Outside Residence (APOR) or the essential workers of sectors permitted by the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) against COVID-19, persons on Indispensable Travel (IT) and Outbound Overseas Filipino Workers who are returning to work are not affected with the suspension of Travel Authority.

The suspension is part of the IATF's protocol observed in areas placed under MECQ and NOCPPO calls on LSIs who are affected by this move to take necessary adjustments so as to avoid any inconvenience in their travel.

The three major airlines plying Manila-Bacolod-Manila routes also cancelled their flights following the re-imposition of MECQ in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, NOCPPO from March 17 to August 2 recorded a total of 1,906 violators of minimum health protocols in the entire province.

Of the number, 1,733 were curfew violators while 173 were violators of health protocols such as not wearing of facemask, non-observance on social distancing, or mass gathering in public places. *(LTP/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
