PASIG CITY, Aug. 9 (PIA) --Marikina City's COVID-19 response mechanisms has significantly improved after adopting the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) Strategy of the National Action Plan Against COVID-19 Phase 2.
This was noted by Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor during a coordination meeting on Friday, (Aug. 7) between members of the National Task Force (NTF) on COVID-19's Coordinated Operation to Defeat the Epidemic (CODE) team and Marikina City government officials.
"Napakalaki ng improvement ng Marikina City, and I see how they really followed the PDITR Strategy of our National Action Plan. I hope na magamit nila itong 15 days of modified enhanced community quarantine natin para mas mapalakas pa 'yong response nila against COVID-19," Mayor said.
As of August 5, Marikina has conducted 14,059 tests through its Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory which has the capacity to do an average of 250-300 tests a day. A total of 13,381 unique individuals have been swabbed in the facility.
The city's contact tracing capability has also increased from a 1:2 to 1:30 ratio, wherein for every positive patient, 30 of their close contacts are being identified. The local government is working to achieve its target ratio of 1:40.
As part of its isolation and treatment strategy, the city government has designated Marikina Hotel and its bunker house, Marikina Convention Center, and Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center as additional isolation facilities for mild and asymptomatic cases.
NTF officials also turned over to the city government 5,000 sets of personal protective equipment, 2,000 COVID-19 test kits, 100 hygiene kits, and information, education, and communications (IEC) materials. (NTF-COVID-19/PIA-NCR)
