BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN -- Brunei reported no new cases of COVID-19 on Friday with the national tally of cases standing at 145.

It marked the 15th consecutive day without new cases since Sept. 3.

According to Brunei's Ministry of Health, no more recoveries were recorded, maintaining the total number of recovered cases at 141. There is still one active case being treated at the National Isolation Center. (Brunei-COVID-19)

JAKARTA -- Rescuers on Friday found the helicopter, which lost contact on Thursday, in a deep forest in Indonesia's eastern province of Papua with all on board being survived, spokesman of National Search and Rescue Office Yusuf Latief said.

BANGKOK -- Thailand, which had only witnessed one local COVID-19 transmission in 100 days reported on Friday the first fatality in 97 days.

A staff from Thailand's Ministry of Labour, who was found infected with COVID-19 after returning from Saudi Arabia, succumbed to death on Friday afternoon.

BANGKOK -- The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) on Friday warned 24 provinces of the country to brace for flooding as tropical storm Noul had already made landfall in Thailand's north and north-east.

Tropical storm Noul is as devastating as tropical storm Podul, which caused widespread flooding in the northeastern province of Nakhon Phanom in August last year, said the TMD on its website. (Thailand-Flooding)

MANILA -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines surged to 279,526 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 3,257 new daily cases on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Philippine government has ordered the closure of all private and public cemeteries, memorial parks and columbariums nationwide from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the observance of All Souls' Day and All Saints' Day. (Philippines-COVID-19)
