ILOILO CITY, Sept. 25 (PIA) - A total of 18 farmer's cooperatives and associations (FCAs) from Iloilo Province received farm machinery and equipment from the Department of Agriculture, under its Farm Mechanization program of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).
In a media release, Baldwin Jallorina, DA Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) Executive Director, said the interventions formed part of the P650-million 2019 budget under RCEF's farm mechanization program to enable rice resiliency and competitiveness in Region 6.
"Gamitin natin nang wasto at e-operate nang tama ang matatanggap ninyong makinary,"he said, adding that Iloilo province received P89.12-million worth of farm machinery.
The FCAs in Iloilo received 16-four wheel tractors, 23 hand tractors, 30 floating tillers, seven precision seeders, two walk-behind transplanters, seven riding type transplanters, 18 combine harvesters, and one rice mill.
Meanwhile, Helen Bolivar, president of Badiangan Farmers'Association of Mina, Iloilo, said they are thankful to the agency for its continuous support to their association which is also a beneficiary of DA's Farm Service Provider (FSP) program.
"Nalipay gid ako kay nadugangan ang amon makinarya nga makabulig gid sa amon asosasyon kag sa madamu nga magagmay nga mangunguma sang amon banwa (We are truly happy because we have additional machineries which could help our association, as well as the small farmers in our town)," she said.
She added that their association received farm machinery and equipment amounting to P5.25-million. (JSC/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
