LAOAG CITY, Oct. 27 (PIA) - Just in time for the resumption of classes under the Department of Education (DepEd), pupils in need of tutorial and internet access may go to the city library here for free.
Housed at its temporary place at the second floor of the ABC Building, the library is equipped with internet connection which may be used by students for their research.
Moreover, there are some available academic materials which were carried when the library transferred from its original building after it was designated as Laoag City's isolation facility.
Children are tutored for free as the city librarians guide them in answering their modules.
"We let them answer first and when they need an assistance or they want to ask us to teach them, that's the time when we teach them," Madonna Reyes, city librarian, said.
At the City Schools Division of Laoag, modules are delivered to the houses of the learners as early as September.
The distribution of modules is made possible through the collaboration of the schools division office, local and barangay officials, and Motorcycle Philippine Federation 128 Inc.
In order to observe minimum health standards while inside the library, parents who wish to send their children for tutorial may contact first the librarians to set their schedule.
"For social distancing purposes, kailangan muna kaming i-contact muna. Magpa-appointment muna dahil limang estudyante lang ang capacity dito sa loob," Reyes added.
Pupils and visitors are permitted to go inside the learning facility when they wear face mask and face shield to comply with the new normal living as the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to threaten the country. (JCR/AMB/MJTAB/PIA Ilocos Norte)
