TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Oct. 30 (PIA) - - Governor Manuel N. Mamba has urged government agencies to conduct regular disinfection of their respective office premisses to avoid further local transmission of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the workplaces.

The governor said of the 17 cases yesterday, nine were employees and security guards of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in which seven are from this city while the other two are from the towns of Penablanca and Enrile.

Other than these, there also two were health care workers and one administrative aide from Lasam town, one nursing attendant at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center, one employee of the Department of Agrarian Reform and other two are citizens of Gonzaga and Tuao towns.

Earlier, there were also police officers who tested positive from the Tuguegarao City Police station and Enrile Police Station.

"If there's a need to lockdown temporarily the offices, they should do it so that it will be disinfected properly. These are the ways for us to contain the further spread of the virus," Mamba said.

On the other hand, the Governor warned LGUs not to allow 'jueteng' operations in their respective municipalities.

"I received information that there are jueteng operations now in some of the municipalities in the province. Some of them even sent people to negotiate and seek my approval, but i said no," Mamba said.

He said that he has been allergic to 'jueteng' and one of his advocacies is against any illegal gambling activities.

"This might also be a reason of further increase of our COVID-19 cases. Imagine, the collectors will go house to house. The spread of the virus, in case there will be one of them is a carrier of the virus, will be very fast" Mamba argued.

The governor further encourage public to report illegal activities, like illegal gambling in their respective towns for appropriate action. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
