LEGAZPI CITY (PIA)-At least seven regional winners from Bicol will now vie for the national level of this year's Search for Outstanding Government Workers spearheaded by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

There are three categories for the search which include the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award, Outstanding Public Officials and Employees or Dangal ng Bayan Award, and the CSC Pag-asa Award.

It was being administered by the CSC'c Honor Awards Program (HAP) to recognize the exemplary performance of government workers whose achievements have contributed to the efficiency and improvement of government operations.

The Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award will be given to an individual or group with exceptional or extraordinary contributions that have nationwide impact on public interest, security and patrimony while the CSC Pag-asa will be awarded to those with outstanding contributions that directly benefit more than one department of the government.

Meanwhile, the Dangal ng Bayan Award is given to those individuals for their extraordinary performance or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior in adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

The Committee on Awards, which also comprises the CSC and members from the Office of the President, is now having the review of the national qualifiers. The aspiring awardees will be subjected to background investigation and validation of declared accomplishment.

There were a total of 166 regional winners in the country who vie for the outstanding government worker awards.

Davao region and Western Visayas had the most number of national qualifiers with 25 and 20, respectively.

All appointive officials and employees holding permanent, temporary, contractual and casual status of employment, whether stationed in the Philippines or abroad, are qualified in this search. (PIA5/CEB/CSC)
