DOLE-RCC 12 holds caravan for displaced workers in Polomolok

POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato, Jan. 27 (PIA) -- To help ease the impact from losing employment among retrenched workers of DolePhil, Inc., the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Coordinating Committee (DOLE-RCC) 12 conducted a caravan of programs and services on Monday, January 18, specifically intended for the 471 workers who recently lost their jobs.

The caravan, a partnership with the Local Government Unit of Polomolok, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) 12, and the DolePhil, Inc aims to help affected workers find new opportunities like local and foreign jobs, social media marketing skills, entrepreneurial and skills training, livelihood, Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) and scholarship for workers' children, among others.

DOLE-South Cotabato Field Office headed by Assistant Regional Director Arlene Bisnon, oriented workers on requirements and guidelines of Registration of Workers' Association (RWA) and the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Raymundo Agravante reminded the displaced workers to take advantage of the programs and services offered in the caravan as it was designed primarily to curb the impact of unemployment and continued economic threat of COVID-19 pandemic.

"Let us remember that the health risk and economic threat of COVID-19 pandemic is still around so I urge everyone to maximize all government programs and services offered as skills enhancement or start-up capital in rebuilding your job or engaging on a business entrepreneurship," added RD Agravante.

With DOLE as the lead agency, the RCC is composed of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), Employees' Compensation Commission (ECC), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) , Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), and the League of PESO Managers in Region (LPMR) 12.
