SAN JOSE, Antique, April 19 (PIA) - - Antique's Lone District Representative and House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, in a virtual press conference, called on everyone to refrain from spreading wrong information especially that we are in a crisis situation.
She likewise urged the media to share only truthful information and for the Antiquenos to use the social media platform to help the frontline workers and those who are in need.
"Hiniling ko po sa media na ang ibigay nating impormasyon ay tunay na impormasyon. Hinihiling ko sa ating mga kasimanwa na mahilig mag-Facebook, gamitin natin ang Facebook para makatulong sa ating mga frontliners at mahihirap na kasimanwa.
She urged them not to use social media to hurt anyone as it only worsens the situation.
"You will never see me criticizing this government during this time of crisis; you will never hear me criticizing President Duterte or his government, or the Cabinet. Hindi perpekto ang mga tao pero gagawin natin ang kaya natin at dapat tayo ay magtulungan" she said.
"Anything that is negative is a disservice to the people," she added.
She urged the public to inform the concerned officials if they see something instead of spreading fake information on social media.
Governor Rhodora Cadiao, on her part, also counts on the media practitioners to disseminate accurate and relevant information to theAntiquenos so they will be aware of what is going on with their relatives and families in the province especially those who are abroad or outside of Antique.
Cadiao also called on the support of everyone saying that "we are all in this together, thus, we need the help of each other and if you are
spreading the wrong information, you are only adding to the problem in our fight against COVID-19."
"On behalf of the Provincial Government, we have already exhausted all our efforts but we are not tired," she said with gratitude to the frontliners who have not abandoned their post. (JBG/psm/PIA-Antique)
