BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 20 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the country's total tally to 60,851.

Of the new cases, 19 are imported cases and one is a community case.

LISBON -- Portugal on Monday proceeded to the third stage of deconfinement, or easing of COVID-19 lockdown measures, with the gradual reopening of services and other activities in municipalities with a relatively low COVID-19 incidence rate.

In most of the country, schools resumed in-person education and stores, shopping centers and restaurants reopened with occupancy restrictions and in-store health and safety measures.

MUSCAT -- The Omani Health Ministry on Monday announced 1,399 new COVID-19 infections, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the sultanate to 181,430, the official Oman News Agency reported.

Meanwhile, 1,346 people recovered during the past 24 hours, taking the overall recoveries to 161,670 while 12 deaths were reported, pushing the tally up to 1,890, according to a ministry statement quoted by ONA.

TEHRAN -- The Iranian Health Ministry on Monday reported 24,346 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infections to 2,261,435.

The pandemic has so far claimed 67,130 lives in Iran, up by 398 in the past 24 hours, said Sima Sadat Lari, spokeswoman for the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, during her daily briefing.

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday 9,628 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 945,745.

The death toll climbed to 16,048 after 88 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH said.

COLOMBO -- The number of COVID-19 deaths in Sri Lanka reached 617 on Monday after one more death was reported, official statistics from the Health Ministry showed.

According to official figures, Sri Lanka has recorded 96,439 COVID-19 cases since the first local patient was detected in March last year, out of which 93,113 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, bringing down the active patient count to 2,709.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported on Monday 12 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19, taking the total tally to 11,695.

Of the new infections, 11 were imported and one was locally transmitted, according to a CHP statement.

BANGKOK -- Thailand registered 1,390 new COVID-19 cases and three more deaths in the last 24 hours, the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said Monday.

Of Monday's confirmed cases, 1,384 were domestic infections and six were imported cases, CCSA spokeswoman Apisamai Srirangsan said.

Around 1,058 local cases were reported at hospitals while 326 others were confirmed via active testing at communities and workplaces, Apisamai said.
