BAGUIO CITY, May 12 (PIA) - - The Regional Vaccination Operations Center (RVOC) reported that 36,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were delivered to the Cordillera Administrativbe Region(CAR) this week.
These will be used for the second dose of individuals vaccinated with the first tranche of AstraZeneca allocated to the region and for the first dose of the remaining unvaccinated eligible population from priority gtoups A1 (frontline health workers), A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (adults with co-morbidities).
RVOC data show there are 10,313 frontline workers who received their first dose last March and are already eligible for their second dose after the 10 to 12 weeks interval.
For the new AstraZeneca allocation, the RVOC clarified that per guidelines of the National Vaccination Operations Center, 12,000 doses are allocated to Baguio City, and the rest to be divided among the provinces. 3,020 doses will be allocated each to Apayao, Benguet, Kalinga and Mountain Province while Abra and Ifugao will receive 3,040 doses each.
Dr. Ruby Constantino, Department of Health - Cordillera (DOH - CAR) Director and Regional RVOC chairperson, advised city VOCs and health offices to learn from the challenges encountered during the initial rollout of the vaccination and to work for a faster and more efficient deployment and vaccination.
Constantino also reminded that since the new doses of AstraZeneca vaccines are part of the 2,030,400 doses from the COVAX Facility that the country received last May 8,these are solely for the inoculation of Priority Groups A1, A2 and A3.
For the COVID - 19 vaccination in CAR, 1,000 vials (10,000 doses) of AstraZeneca and 38,100 Coronavac Sinovac doses were earlier allocated for the first dose of eligible population from priority groups A1, A2 and A3.
As of May 10 data, there are already 45,790 eligible population of frontline healthcare workers. senior citizens and adults with co-morbidities inoculated with their first dose of COVID - 19 vaccines, of which 35,477 received Sinovac and 10,313 for AstraZeneca.
There are already 6,141 eligible population who got their first shot of COVID - 19 vaccines in Abra; 4,351 in Apayao; 17,428 in Baguio City; 5,089 in Benguet; 3,712 in Ifugao; 4,567 in Kalinga, and 4,502 in Mountain Province.
The RVOC data also show there are 17,619 eligible population from priority groups A1, A2 and A3 who are already vaccinated with their second dose of Sinovac vaccine. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
