CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, May 12 (PIA)-Mayor Pablo M. Lorenzo III of Quezon municipality in Bukidnon province recently requested the Department of Agriculture in Northern Mindanao (DA-10) to support the town's overall goal of increasing farmers' income and improving livelihoods.
The mayor sought DA's assistance particularly on animal dispersal program; abaca, vegetable and fruit production; and farm mechanization strategy, among other agri-interventions to help local farmers earn more amid the pandemic.
Guided by the Department's twin goals of "Masaganang Ani, Mataas na Kita," Regional Executive Director Carlene Collado quickly convened DA-10's technical team to discuss with Mayor Lorenzo on providing necessary technical and financial assistance to attain the government's common vision of food-secure communities and empowered farmers.
Collado requested Quezon Municipality to draft and submit proposals, suggesting a detailed profile of the recommended feasible areas for agri-assistance and development, in accordance with the documentary criteria for DA-10's Technical Team to review what exactly viable agricultural interventions in the said LGU are.
He also assured the municipal mayor that DA-10 is fully committed to working closely with LGUs in order to successfully implement local agricultural projects and initiatives as part of the national banner programs.
Also present then was Municipal Agriculturist Perlita Danlag, Municipal Planning and Development Officer Engr. Jose Ilar, and Executive Assistant Engr. Xian Louis Patrick Arcayera. (JCAnito, DA 10/PIA Bukidnon)
