SAN JOSE, Antique, May 13 (PIA) - The Provincial Government of Antique and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Antique Chapter are supporting the use of the Visayas COVID-19 Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC) manual turned over by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Visayas (OPAV) recently here in San Jose.

Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, during the program, expressed her gratitude to the team from OPAV and Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) which turned over the manual and the conduct of orientation to the local and health officials in the province in order to cascade the use of the manual to the various local government units.

She also cited that Antique is prepared for the rollout of COVID-19 vaccination with 33 identified vaccination centers all throughout the province in which the manual of operations will be of use.

'Though there are challenges in the demand generation aspect of the COVID-19 inoculation, Cadiao said that the municipal mayors and the local health officials are doing their best to convince their constituents.

Retired MGen. Melquiades Feliciano, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Chief Implementor for the Visayas, said that the manual aims to capacitate the LGUs in the implementation of the vaccination program.

He emphasized the need for all the LGUs to be prepared with the hope that the manual could complement whatever the LGUs are preparing for

the COVID-19 vaccination of the general population.

"It is the aim of the OPAV in the collaboration and coordination with the IATF and DOH to have a successful vaccination program," Feliciano said.

He also pointed out that the support of everyone is vital so that no LGU will be left out and no vaccine will be wasted.

On the part of Department of Health (DOH) 6, Regional Director Emelia Monicimpo said that 'though the DOH has already issued the guidelines on the COVID-19 vaccination program, the VVOP could enhance the operations especially when implemented at the barangay level.

Monicimpo affirmed the statement of Feliciano that the VVOP manual could really complement the micro plan of the LGUs.

The manual of operations was received by Governor Cadiao and all the municipal mayors led byLMP-Antique president Mayor Mary Jean N. Te of

Libertad.

Present during the event were Engr. Ricardo Mendoza, Operations Head of the Visayas Vaccination Operation Center, DOH Region 7 Chief

Pathologist Dr Mary Jean Loreche, Mia Fe Feliciano of the IATF Visayas, and Vice Governor Edgar Denosta, among other local officials. (JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique)
