LANAO DEL NORTE, May 13 (PIA)--The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) - 10 strongly echoed its call to step up the fight against the coronavirus (COVID)-19 by amplifying collaborative efforts.
DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel Agabe stressed in a virtual conversation Wednesday, May 12, that the battle against the pandemic is not only shouldered by the national government nor the local government units but of citizens in all the communities.
He further stated that instilling awareness to each constituent is a great advantage in achieving success in overcoming this worldwide health crisis as everyone will be empowered by then to follow necessary precautions to help mitigate the virus.
"One best strategy para mapugngan nato ang pagkaylap sa COVID case is for us nga mapasabot sa atoang mga lumulupyo, sa atoang mga kaigsuonan nga ang pinakamaayo nga paagi para mapugngan nato ang pagdaghan sa COVID-19 cases is by strict observance of minimum health standards. Bisan pa naa na tay vaccination, kinahanglanon lang gihapon nga sundon nato ang atoang minimum health standard," conveyed Agabe.
[One best strategy to prevent the transmission of the COVID case is for us to make our residents, our brothers and sisters, understands that the best way to prevent the rise of COVID-19 cases is by strict observance of minimum health standards. Although we already have the vaccination, we still need to follow our minimum health standard.]
Based on the latest report, Northern Mindanao has been considered as an area of concern together with other nine regions nationwide due to the noticeable increase and record of faster transmission of COVID-19 cases for the past two weeks.
With this, Agabe strongly advocated the government's vaccination program to attain herd immunity.
"We need to have herd immunity. Katong mga target nga mga priority, beneficiaries sa bakuna, dapat magpabakuna [Those who are target priority, beneficiaries of the vaccine, should be vaccinated] because if we could achieve the herd immunity, then that is the time for us to already enhance our recovery efforts considering the adverse effect of the pandemic, of the COVID-19," he pronounced.
Meanwhile, DILG Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Bruce Augusto Colao reminded officials of the local government in the province to carry on the implementation of existing policies and guidelines issued as a COVID-19 response apart from seeking support from their communities.
"We would like to reiterate the call of convergence, the call with the concert of efforts, the call of unified approaches as we battle an unseen enemy, COVID-19. Magtinabangay lang gyud ta [Let us just help one another], whatever we can contribute, enforcement of existing policies. Be consistently guided by the guidelines issued by the national government through the IATF and the national task force," he firmly emphasized. (CRG/ PIA-ICIC)
