IBA, Zambales - A drug den was dismantled and seven drug personalities were arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation of the Philippine National Police - Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PNP-PDEA) in Subic, Zambales on Thursday night.
In a police report on Friday, Col. Romano Velayo Cardino, director of the Zambales Police Provincial Office, identified the arrested suspects as Robert Banaga, 42, a resident of Barangay West Tapinac, Olongapo City; Allan Salandanan, 42; Sarman Acosta, 32; Elmer Tanamal, 50; Jayson Tarales, 18; Samuel Ocena, 45; and John Vincent Arizo, 28, all residents of Subic town, this province.
Cardino said operatives of PDEA 3 (Central Luzon), PDEA-Tarlac, PDEA-Zambales, Subic Municipal Police Station, Subic Intelligence Unit, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group - Zambales conducted the buy-bust operation that resulted in the dismantling of the drug den in Purok 6, Barangay Calapacuan.
Confiscated during the operation were four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 15 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP102,000; assorted drug paraphernalia; and the buy-bust money.
Appropriate charges for violation of Sections 5, 6, 13, 14, and 15 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) were filed against the suspects.
"With the constant arrest of illegal drug personalities in the area, as well as the unremitting commitment of the police to stop its proliferation, illegal drug traders will have less opportunity to propagate illegal drugs here in the province of Zambales," Cardino said. (PNA)
