COTABATO CITY - A police officer in the Sultan Kudarat town of Lebak has been gaining praise for responding to a call for help with a blood donation to a mother suffering from postpartum hemorrhage, on Tuesday afternoon.
"One good deed a day to be happy," Lt. Col. Julius Malcontento said in an interview Wednesday as he recognized a subordinate, Patrolman Leonique Ogatis, for quickly responding to the call.
Lebak's social media netizens also poured appreciation for Ogatis when the news of his donation was posted on Facebook.
Ogatis volunteered to donate blood for Miscell Carbon, 36, of Barangay Taguisa who had just delivered a baby at the Lebak Doctors Hospital at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
"We received a call from a resident of Barangay Taguisa requesting blood donors from the police ranks. Without hesitation, Ogatis volunteered," Malcontento said.
He said the mother had experienced postpartum hemorrhage after delivering her baby who did not survive.
"We will help Lebakenos in whatever way possible we can," Malcontento said.
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 (Soccsksargen) said its blood donation program, "PRO-12 Dugo ng Bayaning Pulis Alay sa Kapwa", is ready for those in need. (PNA)
