At least one person has been killed and two injured in the city of Mulhouse, according to TF1

At least one person has been killed and two others injured after an Algerian man went on a stabbing spree at a market in the French city of Mulhouse on Saturday afternoon, according to local media.

The suspected attacker is a 37-year-old Algerian who was allegedly under an obligation to leave French territory as well as a judicial ten-year ban from the country, according to TF1, citing police sources.

"At the time of the events, the man was to come and sign his judicial control at the police station to verify his house arrest, which he refused," TF1 reported.

Witnesses reportedly heard the phrase "Allahu Akbar" during the incident.

Several municipal police officers who intervened to neutralize the attacker were also injured, Mulhouse mayor Michele Lutz has said in a Facebook post. "The terrorist lead seems to be favored for the moment. This must naturally be confirmed on the judicial level," she wrote.

Lutz also expressed condolences to the victims' families.
